On the development of a national ocean policy

Article Abstract:

The two commissions, the Pew Oceans Commission and the President's Commission on Ocean policy are casting their attention on the problems faced by the marine fisheries in the ocean and are trying to have policies to solve them. The American Fisheries Society is the oldest organization consisting of professionals in the field of fisheries holding a research to solve this critical problem.

Pew oceans commission in-depth reports on ocean status

Article Abstract:

The Pew Oceans Commission had published multiple reports on the status of the marine realm. The final report recommends the establishment of an independent oceans agency that would help bring all stakeholders together to develop the necessary management plans as well as streamlining the structure of the current federal management system.

Misuse of marine protected areas for fisheries management: The case of Mexico

Article Abstract:

Marine protected areas (MPA) gained wide acceptance as tools for restoring depleted species in the 1990's. MPA's in Mexico have failed to fulfill its management and conservation objectives because of its weakness of initial objectives, design, and level of enforcement.
