Article Abstract:
Channel One struck a deal to cover the Wimbledon tennis tournament for an estimated unofficial cost of 1.5 million pounds sterling. The channel has to date suffered from a poor image; and although it is currently running at a loss, the company hopes to breakeven within three years. According to managing director, Julian Aston, other plans include coverage expansion to include Bristol, and later Bradford, Leeds, Wolverhampton, Manchester, and Plymouth.
