Pearl S. Buck

Article Abstract:

Author/journalist and Nobel laureate Pearl S. Buck was to become the most influential Westerner to write about China since Marco Polo in the 13th century. No writer before or since has so personally in books and various publications molded the imaginative terms in which the US views a foreign culture. Buck's stories of China were based upon her experiences and observations as the daughter of a missionary. She remained influential on race, women and children's welfare issues even after her prominence as a China faded in the 1950s.

Interdisciplinary cooperation is essential for vocational and academic education integration. The National Center for Research in Vocational Education tried to analyze the problem of integrated education through interviews with teachers using 46 case studies. The case studies help teachers understand the various problems they face in integration classes, the methods adopted to solve these problems to enhance interdisciplinary cooperation.
