Article Abstract:
Discovery Communications has already benefitted from strong viewer interest in natural history programmes, and aims to build on this with the launch of Animal Planet, a cable and satellite channel dedicated to animals. The channel is not designed to simply be an extension of Discovery's current involvement in natural history, as it will offer a much wider range of programmes involving animals, including dramas, fiction and information.
