International radio broadcaster BBC World Service has achieved FM status in 120 capital cities, a record 153 million listeners a week, and a 62 per cent increase in online traffice under the guidance of director Mark Byford. Future plans include cutting short wave, investing and developing more Internet delivery methods, and increasing FM presence around the world.

Virgin's Mr fix-it

Brand new program director of Virgin Radio, Paul Jackson, has a reputation of being ruthless, especially after his standing up to disc jockey Chris Evans, in Evans' high profile dismissal. Jackson defends the dismissal saying no one person can run a radio station, and regards himself as passionate about radio and its challenges.
