Strange media, getting less so

Article Abstract:

The American mass media can benefit from adopting some of the practices of European media. These include acquiring a wider perception of freedom by opposing support for dictatorial regimes, state regulation to ensure their service to the public, and developing a sense of hierarchy to guarantee the coverage of important rather than sensationalized news. On the other hand, the US media remains superior in terms of journalism education and media management.

A new birth in France

Article Abstract:

The radical 1960s era in France was limited to just one spectacularly tumultuous month in the year 1968. No one anticipated the events that were to unfold during May 1968, when students went rioting and were joined by striking workers. The uprising involved two social groups with little in common, the students on one hand and blue-collar/white-collar workers on the other. After that earthshaking month, everyone went off for summer vacation.
