The trials of training

Article Abstract:

The Spectrum report commissioned by Producers' Alliance (Pact) and Independent Production Training Fund (IPTF) revealed that employers were concerned about the downtrend in skills standards and lack of formal training opportunities, even as they cited money and time constraints to offer training for their employees. The report calls for better balance of investment in the indie sector and an improvement in on- the-job coaching qualities.

Article Abstract:

Television crew training has dramatically changed from gaining hands-on experience from shadowing, to in-depth training courses. Two current training programs at BBC Training and Development, and Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, are different but effective, with many Ravensbourne graduates getting hired.

Post chiefs to set training standards

Article Abstract:

Post-production industry executives have created an action group called the Post-Production Initiative to investigate the quantity and quality of training throughout the sector. The group also plans to evaluate the effectiveness of relevant courses at colleges and universities.
