On expenditure functions
Article Abstract:
The conditions that characterize expenditures functions are identified based on their correlation with utility and preference. These conditions, which provide for duality theorems between expenditure and utility, do not prove duality between direct and indirect utilities because of the absence of upper-semiconscious functions. These continuous and barrier-free conditions applies to non-complete preference orders and to finite and infinite dimensional spaces.

Utility functions on chains
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the problem involving the existence of utility representations on totally ordered sets or chains is presented. The identification of indifferent elements in the study of completely preordered sets generates the chain concept. These sets are often part of economic theory which discusses consumer behavior. It is shown that chains described by Rn (n>1) are not represented by a continuous utility function.

Homothetic and weakly homothetic preferences
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the characteristics of weakly homothetic and homothetic preferences are discussed, with focus on the Rn cone. Particular attention is given to analyses of previous studies on this topic and to classifications of homothetic preferences.
