Pazner-Schmeidler rules in large societies

Article Abstract:

The fair division problem, which is one of the central problems in welfare economics, was considered for large societies under the assumptions that the societies can change and that the bundle of goods to be divided is fixed. Moreover, a characterization of Pazner-Schmeidler's egalitarian-equivalent rules was provided via the axioms of efficiency, the equal split lower bound for utilities and solidarity with respect to changes in society. The results showed that the presence of non-convex preferences does not allow the characterization.
