Sequential rationality, implementation and pre-play communication

Article Abstract:

Sequential mediated equilibrium (SME) is seen as an approroate solution approach for games with privately informed economic agents who may communicate with each other before the game, if it is to their benefit. The presence of pre-play communication and asymmetric information contribute to the extreme complexity of necessary and sufficient conditions of implementability. Economic implications of the conditions are considered. Findings indicate that under complete information any standard that is implementable in the absence of communications can be implemented if communication is present. Multi-stage communication systems are not treated in the analysis.

Your business letters ... communications or catastrophe?

Article Abstract:

The secret of the good letter writing of Abigail Van Buren and Ann Landers is in their ability to write as they talk and to find some good in everyone. Suggestions for improving business letter-writing skills include avoiding negative words, making suggestions or recommendations rather than commands, creating a cheerful tone, using the second person singular, and using plain English. Being a good letter writer is a skill which is developed. One must continue to work on it.
