The demand for good government
Article Abstract:
An analysis of demand for efficiency in government is presented. Government efficiency is conditioned by institutional variables as well as monitoring by its citizens. An optimal moitoring theory is developed with the application of frontier estimation methods to determine efficiency measures for police depts. It is shown the the use of these measures determines the impact of both a monitoring professional city manager and the general characteristics citizens on government efficiency.

The demand for commodity packages: the case of telephone custom calling features
Article Abstract:
The viability of using a discrete-choice micro-theory based model to determine choice of custom-calling services which can be bought either in discounted packages or individually is presented. Both independence and dependence of choice-influencing variables are assumed, with the assumption of dependence favoured. The best prices can be determined using the model, as well as the best compositions of packages. Research concentrates on call forwarding and call waiting services.

Information, health risk beliefs, and the demand for fats and oils
Article Abstract:
The demand effects on fats and oils are considered by examining mean and variance measures of health information on cholesterol and saturated fat. These measures are based on a Bayesian model of health risk belief and consumer awareness surveys. Increases in consumption of corn, cottonseed and soybean oils have resulted due to health information. Consumption for butter and lard have decreased.
