The structure of firm R&D, the factor intensity of production, and skill bias

Article Abstract:

A study of the effect of R and D and capital on skill bias and production intensity in the case of manufacturing facilities has been conducted. The results suggest that skill bias of R and D occur via two distinct channels. One is through R and D that is specific to the product and which directly increase the demand for skilled labor. The other is through general firm and industry R and D that shows long-term bias towards equipment over structures.

Technology expenditures, factor intensity, and efficiency in Indian manufacturing

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the effects of research and development (R and D) and technology expenditures on costs in India's manufacturing industry. The study analyzes Indian firm data on such expenditures, royalties and technical fees. Results show that technology costs exhibit varying effects across industry type, expenditure type and origin of technology seller.

Trade barriers and trade flows across countries and industries

Article Abstract:

Countries are predisposed to protecting industries that are weakened, deteriorating, politically valuable or are in danger of growing import competition. Industries wherein exports are significant receive less protection, both tariff and nontariff, from nations. An econometric framework enabling concurrent determination of trade barriers and trade flows was employed.
