Article Abstract:
The German Navy has launched a program to develop a replacement for its Breguet Atlantic BR 1150 ATL 1 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) which has been in service since 1966. The key specifications for the would-be successor of the MPA are a 45-year potential life expectancy, interoperability, minimal use of costly avionics systems, integration of future-oriented standards and capability to be upgraded for later technical developments. The firms of Alenia, DASA, ESG, IABG and AC&S have participated in the definition phase of the MPA's successor.
