A tribute to the American soldier

Article Abstract:

Kenneth O. Preston, the Sergeant Major of the Army, accepted the 2004 George Catlett Marshall Medal, AUSA's highest annual honor award, on behalf of all the past, present and future American soldiers. Preston recalled the examples of individual heroism and sacrifice to show contributions made by American soldiers in defending the country for 229 years.

Bringing the digital age to the foot soldier

A military training operation at Fort Polk, Louisiana, designed to bring digital equipment to the soldiers in the field, is described. The Fourth Infantry Division has been selected for the digital systems experiment.

Roving Sands 2001

The Roving Sands military training exercise of 2001 is described. The exercise, which began in 1989, has grown in size and scope until it has become a joint theater air and missile defense operation.
