Article Abstract:

Gen Horst Pleiner, Chief of Staff of the Austrian Armed Forces (AAF), said the AAF is oriented towards the fulfillment of national defense tasks and in helping civilian authorities in disaster relief and law enforcement. Pleiner added that the AAF is also prepared to participate in joint international operations through its PREPUN concept. These are military units made available on a voluntary basis for peacekeeping, peace support and humanitarian operations.
