Automatic target classification for naval radars

Article Abstract:

A discussion of the techniques and main concepts for classification of air and naval targets for naval radars is presented. An approach for automatic NCTR of air and naval targets was proposed which showed that classification performance using multi-features based classification technique provides good classification results for air targets while feature-based techniques to classify surface targets into broad classes yield poor performance and to improve the classification performance, template matching techniques could be explored based on a more detailed HRR/ISAR signature analysis.
