Black sea emerges as strategic hub following NATO expansion

Article Abstract:

The expansion of NATO by creating a new strategic hub in the Black Sea region that would ultimately connect Europe to the Middle East would likely extend the war on terrorism to new fronts. The new NATO countries of Romania and Bulgaria offer opportunities for hosting foreign military forces, that could be useful both for launching new operations and taking new measures for prevention and for projecting security and democracy outward.

Terrorists and traffickers test the patience of Serb border forces

Article Abstract:

The unfixed nature of the administrative border of Serb with Kosovo, which allows a free flow of people and goods, together with the difficult and wooded terrain with peaks well over 1,000m above sea level, has made securing the border difficult. This situation has led concerns of political violence and organized crime activities for Serb security forces stationed along the administrative border with Kosovo, in the Presevo valley.
