COMANCHE pre-production programme defined
Article Abstract:
The Boeing/Sikorsky RAH-66 COMANCHE Joint Program Office has signed a memorandum of understanding with the US Army covering the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the program. Under the deal, the COMANCE team has agreed to Pre-Production Program (PPP) in FY2006 at a total cost of $3.6 billion. Among the key features of the PPP are the design and fabrication of 13 COMANCHE helicopters with production mission equipment package, accelerated development of COMANCHE fire control radar and simulation tools for analysis of COMANCHE's performance.

Article Abstract:
The US Army is developing the Suite of Integrated Radio Frequency Countermeasures (SIRFC), a package of new countermeasures designed to protect the Longbow Apache and other aircraft from radio frequency threats. Attack helicopters equipped with the SIRFC will be able to detect, identify, locate and jam missile and modern gun radars. The SIRFC can also be used on a digital battlefield to classify and target threats for an international Joint Force.
