Consolidating Europe's defence industries: The next steps?

Article Abstract:

Europe's defence industries are on the verge of another round of consolidation, however, the governments, as customers have not obtained the supplier base to meet military requirements as efficiently. With new technologies emerging, precision weapons and ability to gather and analyze huge amounts of data, Europe needs companies of sufficient size and good financial backing to embark on long term advanced technology programmes in a cost effective manner.

Britain's Defence Industrial Strategy

Article Abstract:

The British government has completed an exercise that provides large changes for the defense industry and for the acquisition practices of the Ministry of Defense (MoD). The Defence Industrial Strategy is a 146-page document that has identified capabilities that are essential in an onshore defense industry that should remain in Britain for reasons of defense.

Brazilian defence 2007

Article Abstract:

Brazilian defence sector is deeply affected by meager budget and lack of coherent state defence policy. A reorganisation and rationalisation of the defence sector will go a long way in helping the Brazilian defence to get its vigor back.
