He expresses concern for low levels of Navy shipbuilding funding, saying it hurts the nation strategically and discourages a shipbuilding industrial base.

NGSS's Dur: 'We are one shipyard'

Article Abstract:

The Northrop Grumman Ship Systems (NGSS), which was formed from the purchase of Avondale Shipyard and Ingalls Shipbuilding, has discarded the old distinction between the two shipyards and has become a single entity. NGSS now has only one purchasing organization supplying all three facilities for surface warfare, expeditionary warfare and Coast Guard programs and its main aim is to reduce the build times of amphibious assault ships and San Antonio-class landing platform dock ships.
