DCN needs personnel reductions by 2002
Article Abstract:
Direction des Construction Navales, Europe's biggest naval contractor, wants to pare down its workforce to 14,500 from 18,500 by 2002. The Paris-based company said another 1,000 employees could be added to the list if discussions with the union continue for another two years. Company sources, however, said the above figures are not yet a certainty as much depends on the profitability of existing contracts and whether more work will be secured.
