Mr. Spilios P. Spiliotopoulos, Hellenic Minister of National Defense (MoND), describes about the changes in the global defense industry and also about the new security risks and challenges of the international system. The overall globalization process, the continuously changing security environment, and the resulting new demands on the armed forces are the main factors that are influencing the development of the international defense industry.

The Defendory defence exhibition held in Athens provided a unique meeting point to establish direct contacts with official delegations and exhibitors of the defence community. On top of the financial problems, the new government suspects that the defence procurement process since 1996 is marred by what is referred to as improper procedures.
