'Delivering security in a changing world'

Article Abstract:

The new defense policy that was unveiled by the British Government in December 2003 is outlined in two interrelated documents. The Defense White Paper, 'Delivering Security in the Changing World', and the National Audit Office's report 'Operation Telic - UK Military operations in Iraq' are the two documents that define the new defense policies of the United Kingdom. The White Paper identifies the threats to modern security as coming from nations with weapons of mass destruction, unstable regimes, which may harbor or support terrorism, as well as terrorists who have WMDs.

Fres knocks out boxer

Article Abstract:

The withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the tri-national BOXER programme for a new family of multi-role wheeled armored vehicles has been a blow for Germany and Netherlands. The British Army's re-evaluation of AFV's requirements indicated that the BOXER program is inadequate for the post-Cold War World. UK MoD is interested in the Future Rapid Effects System (FRES) family, which consists of both new and legacy systems combining heavy, medium and light armour.
