Dubai's Air Show is an AIR show

Article Abstract:

Various developments which transpired at the recent Dubai Air Show are presented. The Show focuses mainly on aircraft and missiles. Dornier and Fairchild are offering 32 former Luftwaffe Alpha jets as trainer aircraft to the United Arab Emirates. Lockheed Martin is negotiating for a contract to sell 80 F-16s to the Emirates. Dassault has released a new standard for the Mirage 2000, the Mirage 2000-5 Mk 2. The Mk2 features a new computer, wider displays and a higher take-off weight.

Celsius Bofors Demo '98

Article Abstract:

The Bofors firing range near Karlskoga, Sweden, was the scene of a series of live firing demonstrations conducted between Sep 14, 1998, and Sep 17, 1998. The demonstrations featured newly developed munitions fired by actual Swedish Army conscripts. The highlight of the demonstrations was unquestionably the latest version of the Bill top attack missile designated as the Bill2. However, the new, cost-effective Bofors Liab 120mm Multi-Target HE-T attracted considerable attention because of its simple design components yet shattering effects.

When really big is needed

Article Abstract:

The US seeks to procure 14 to 15 more units of C-17 Globemaster III aircraft to gradually replace its ageing fleet of C-141s used for special operations. The C-17's ground capability and navigation accuracy provided by its inertial systems enables it to fly at low altitudes at vastly-enhanced flying conditions. Boeing officials touted the C-17 as very suitable for low-altitude, long-range missions as it was designed to spend 40% of its flight life at low-altitude levels.
