EADS unveils new advanced refuelling boom system for Australian Airbus A330 tankers

Article Abstract:

EADS has unveiled its advanced refuelling boom system (ARBS), which is designed to break the de facto Boeing monopoly in the market for in-flight refuelling boom systems and sold to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) for installation on that service's five new Airbus A330 multirole tanker/transports (MRTTs). The ARBS meets all future air-refuelling requirements, including safety requirements, and also features a fail-operative/fail-safe concept and on-condition maintenance.
