Field artillery - Enduring importance and future challenges

Article Abstract:

Millennia warfare was a matter of two dimensional linear encounter, and field artillery always fired parallel to the ground while in the 20th century, adoption of indirect fire enabled artillery anywhere in the area of operations of one side to fire any target anywhere in the area of operations of its opponent. Determined action is required to maintain enduring qualities of artillery while other Arms and Services also develop their capabilities.
