Frigates have evolved from simple escort ships to become the workhorses of any fleet and hence it is necessary to study the requirements and the capabilities currently available in this area. Multi-class frigates are preferred by many naval forces as adaptability and reconfigurability are the keys that enable to fulfill different tasks and face future changes of missions and equipments without having to undergo complex redesigns and refits.
