Frigates (FFG)

Article Abstract:

The United States frigates are involved in drug interdiction campaign in Caribbean and Atlantic water, Persian Gulf performing duties, maritime interdiction and maintaining sealine communication during its operations. Perry-class frigates (FFG) are upgraded and these include new ship's service diesel generators, the addition of reverse osmosis plants, commercial-off-the-shell slewing arm davits and the addition of self-contained breathing apparatus.

Trends in America's post-cold war military conflicts: The implications for sea power

Article Abstract:

The commonalities and associated trends obtained from the performances of the U.S. forces in Iraq and their implications on the future combat employment of sea power are discussed. The analysis suggests that the U.S. has to invest in concepts, capabilities and enabling technologies to sustain its competitive advantages on future battlefields, which were demonstrated in post-Cold War military conflicts.

Belgian Navy to receive Karel Doorman frigates

Article Abstract:

The transfer of two Karel Doorman-class frigates from the royal Netherlands Navy to the Belgian Navy has made Belgium and Netherlands to reach an agreement. Belgium paid $296.6 million for the Van Amstel and Van Ness, which would be officially handed over in March 2007 and March 2008, respectively.
