Haifa Street: Purple Boulevard redux

Article Abstract:

American soldiers named the Haifa Street as Purple Heart Boulevard due to the fights between insurgents and American and Iraqi forces, along with the car bombs, assassinations, and assaults on Iraqi police stations. A company of paratroopers was deployed to construct a base in the heart of the Haifa Street area to join soldiers from the 1st Cavalry Division with an aim to patrol the area and eliminate the insurgents.

AUSA's 51st annual meeting: Call to Duty

Article Abstract:

The theme of AUSA's 2005 Annual Meeting, held at the Washington Convention Center, was 'Call to Duty' to honour the services of the US Army who have always been there for the duty of the country. Francis J. Harvey, secretary of the Army, in his keynote address stated that he is confident that the call to duty will remain strong in the US in the future and the young Americans will continue to answer that call.

Reinforcing Homeland Defense in the wake of September 11

Article Abstract:

The Department of Defense has followed the 9-11 terrorist attacks with plans to make use of military command responsibilities inside the US. The initial divisions and responsibilities are discussed.
