Law and terrorism: US and British responses compared

Article Abstract:

A comparative study of the legislations enacted by the US and UK in response to the September 11, 2001 attacks are examined. The counterterrorism legislations implemented by the two countries are largely reactive and have occurred, often very rapidly, in response to a terrorist attack, either at home or abroad, and that though the swift implementation of such reactive legislations can heighten public assurance, such aggressive measures need careful supervision, as they have every chance to affect fundamental human rights.
