People: the driving force behind the Royal Australian Navy
Article Abstract:
The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) has developed a Personnel Strategy, which comprises nine inter-connecting themes to position the RAN as an employer of choice in the twenty first century. Creating an appropriately skilled, educated and sustainable workforce, improving recruitment and retention, recognizing and rewarding people, fostering strong, innovative and inspiring leadership and improving career management are some of the nine inter-connecting themes that are discussed.

Australian naval programmes revisited
Article Abstract:
The Royal Australian Navy has four ongoing ship construction projects as part of its modernization and development programs. These include the Project Sea 114 for the construction of six 3000t COLLINS Class submarines, Project Sea 1348 for building eight 3600t ANZAC Class frigates, Project 1555 for six HUON Class coastal mine hunters and Project 1401 for two new hydrographic ships.
