Portugal: Strategic and Security Scenario

Article Abstract:

The Portuguese Air Force (PoAF) is in the process of undergoing major adaptation in response to NATO's transformation process requirements that are reflected in the Force Planning cycle and in the NATO Response Force (NRF) concept. Gen. Manuel Jose Taveira Martins, Chief of Staff of the Portuguese Air Force, analyses the post 9/11 global scenario and discusses the new operational challenges faced by the PoAF.

Current security situation on the Korean peninsula

Article Abstract:

The inter-Korean relations seems to have stagnated since the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea's (ROK) Joint Declaration of June 2000. The main reasons behind the strain in the relations are both the Koreas have failed to establish mutual confidence and North Korea's WMD development programme has raised concerns in the international community.
