Power trip: Energizing naval electric weapons research

Article Abstract:

The United States Navy (USN) is trying to overcome technological challenges and develop deployable high-energy weapons and engineer their integration into future warships. A significant breakthrough is the Integrated Power System (IPS) architecture adopted for the DDG-1000 destroyer programme, the idea behind the electric ship being that the installed power for the ship can be harnessed, enabled by the IPS architecture.
