Racal wins L60 million helicopter avionics upgrades

Article Abstract:

Racal Avionics Ltd has won two contracts for the upgrading of avionics on- board two military helicopters used in two UK services. Under the first contract, Racal is to provide the Royal Navy's Lynx HMA Mk8 helicopter fleet with the next generation SATURN V/UHF radio systems and the RA800L Communications Control System. The second contract calls for the updating of the Royal Air Force's HC Mk2/2A Chinook helicopter fleet with Racal's AMS 2000 navigation units embedded with GPS.

HMS Invincible returns to sea

Article Abstract:

Fleet Support Ltd has finished the upgrading of the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Invincible. One of the major alterations made on the aircraft carrier during the seven-month upgrade program was an extension of the flight deck which enables the vessel to accomodate the Royal Air Force's short take-off vertical landing aircraft. The HMS Invincible will now undergo a series of sea trials before the final handover.
