Sense-and-respond logistics

Article Abstract:

A computer-based system, TRANSCOM, which will decide when a particular aircraft or ship will be arriving and also which shipping container will be carrying what specific item, proved to be very useful during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Logisticians describe that military services need to buy in to sense-and-respond logistics, which is one of the many future logistics concepts being explored by the Air Force.

BRAC to the future

Article Abstract:

The base realignment and closure action (BRAC) that is heading to a new round is detailed. The BRAC would reduce excess capacity and in addition would enable DOD to rationalize facilities to better match the force structure for the new way of doing business.

Truman's "parity" for airpower

Article Abstract:

The US President Harry Truman sent Congress legislation in 1945 favoring unification of the US War Department and the US Navy under a single cabinet head. The creation of this system ensured that parity for airpower would be delivered.
