Article Abstract:

Commanders are integrating tactical IQ with kinetic efforts to provide formalized training to Mariners that focuses on operational and strategic level IQ and not on tactical employment. The option of Expeditionary Warfare Training Group (EWTG) training package is focused on operational-level IQ and is best suited for refined training, deploying units employing their organic marines with IQ backgrounds to further develop and execute the proposed curriculum.

Tactical decision-making simulations: There is a 'family' of tactical decision making simulations for training capability

Article Abstract:

Details about the family of tactical decision-making simulations (TDS) that are available to Mariners as well as exercise specific decision-making skills that can be addressed with each TDS, are provided. The focus is providing training to the Mariner to exercise doctrinal, analytical and intuitive decision making applications and skills, provide leadership development based on critical thinking and ultimately enhance the performance.

A more realistic command post exercise

Article Abstract:

Commanders use command post exercises (CPX) that are driven by simulation for training their staff for developing better decision-making ability. Master scenario events list (MESL) in combination with CPX gives an appropriate response which is assessed, monitored and verified by real world experience to ensure that the training supports the objectives of the commander.
