"The Duke" Comanche heads for testing
Article Abstract:
The Army's second prototype of the RAH-66 Comanche was named The Duke in honor of John Wayne during a ceremony. The prototype will be equipped for electronic system trials following display in Washington, DC. An official says the Duke will undergo a six-month instrumentation fitting at the program's West Palm Beach, FL's test facility and begin flights in the Spring 1999. The first aircraft was intended for air vehicle development; while the second one is to be loaded with electronics for the testing on whether all the sensors and weapon systems work.

The heavy division in 2010: an alternative concept
Article Abstract:
The Army XXI Heavy Division vision for mechanized and armored divisions was launched by Army officials in 1998. The 2010 concept focuses on the integration of new technologies without any major organizational change to the division. The all-weather Apache Longbow and Comanche attack and armed reconnaissance helicopters, the Crusader self-propelled howitzer and the guided multiple-launch rocket system and digitized information systems are vital elements of the division's battlefield technologies.
