Article Abstract:

The Navy's Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) is its ship systems program manager as well as its engineering and technical authority. NAVSEA depends on over 50,000 sailors and civilians as well as thousands of contractors to develop, design, build and maintain the world's most sophisticated and technologically advanced fleet in terms of ships and weapons systems. It has developed an aggressive business plan to become a nimble, competitive organization that can efficiently support the Navy in the 21st century.

A deployment to remember: The Navy's Seabees in Afghanistan

Article Abstract:

The seven-month deployment of the Navy's Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom is described. The NMCB 133 completed its mission in Afghanistan in April 2002 and returned with a sense of satisfaction for doing the job well.
