The battle for bandwidth
Article Abstract:
The US armed forces is one of the biggest user of electromagnetic spectrum, which are used in its operations. The Dept of Defense said that it has around 900,000 spectrum dependent systems particularly in communications, radar, electronic combat and navigation. Spectrum access is also needed for training, testing, security and fire control at different military installations. However, the military is facing fierce competition from various business interests which are also large users of the spectrum such satellite link operators, broadcasters and cellular telephone operators.

The Battle of the Bulge provides lessons on the use of light and heavy units, the importance of leadership and the use of artillery. The principles and tenets of the operational art of war practiced by Napoleon, as well as the German 'blitzkrieg', are embodied by the Battle of the Bulge.

The day the general died; LTG Simon Bolivar Buckner, Jr. was killed on 18 June 1945, 3 days before the battle for Okinawa ended
Article Abstract:
A Marine officer recalls a day in Okinawa in 1945 when Lieutenant General Simon Bolivar Buckner, Jr., the commander of the Tenth Army, was killed. It is possible that the general's life may have been saved if he had been warned of a Japanese gun emplacement near the command post.
