The kid's big scene - anatomy of a CBI

Article Abstract:

Members of the Seventh Army Training Command's Combat Maneuver Training Center (CMTC) in Germany prepare a continuing series of various, interrelated situations that soldiers may encounter on peacekeeping missions in the Balkans. Called complex battlefield incidents (CBI), these scenarios simulate incidents with geopolitical implications that soldiers must address. Akin to Hollywood movies, the CMTC assigns people to act as civilians in each situation. One CBI scene, for example, involved two Kosovo waifs playing with weapons. The children of a CMTC employee acted out the roles of the children.
