The move into space

Article Abstract:

A group of former Senior officers and civilian experts are calling for the integration of aerospace operations into the Air Force. The call to develop a strong space-based Air Force culture was made during a forum held Jan 12, 1999, which was sponsored by the Eaker Institute. The officers who have expressed their support for an increased space perspective were Retired USAF Gen and former US Space Command commander in chief Howell M Estes III and former Air Force advisor and defense consultant IRIS president Rebecca Grant.

The quest for jointness; US Joint Forces Command keeps looking for it, with mixed results so far

Article Abstract:

There have been notable communication and coordination failures between the branches of the armed forces as recently as the 1999 Operation Allied Forces. The US Joint Forces Command is trying to overcome such failures in the future.

The airpower advocate

Article Abstract:

Republican Duncan L. Hunter, an advocate of long-range airpower is expected to push for resuming bomber production. Hunter emphasizes to extend budget on defense and additional force structure to the services.
