Article Abstract:

Electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) provides extensive image gathering, navigational and targeting capabilities for surface warships, submarines and maritime aviation operating in the varying naval environment. An analysis of EQ/IR sensors carried by surface warships and manned/unmanned maritime aircraft is presented.

The Brazilian Naval history, which goes back to 1500, is described. The possession of Brazilian coast was strategically important to the Portuguese and the occupation and colonization of Brazil became a necessity due to the frequent presence of French navigators along the Brazilian coast.
