A synopsis is provided of the strategy that worked for Company F, 2d Battalion, 24th Marines (2/24) while they fought a counterinsurgency for six months in the North Babil Province of Iraq. The most rare thing about the Operation Iraqi Freedom II is that it was fought as a reinforced rifle company, operating out of their own firm base, separated from the battalion by 12 miles.

A case study is reported on the details of the process 1st Force Reconnaissance Company used, along with the associated lessons learned, during the establishment of the credible and reliable Iraqi Security Forces (ISF). The establishment of credible and reliable ISF being a slow and methodical process, it is a very frustrating task and one where strong leadership is essential.
