Article Abstract:

Naval Team Denmark is developing a multi-role ship for the Danish navy capable of peace-support operations. Called the Standard Flex 3500 (SF 3500), the ship will have a displacement of 4,000 tons and feature a reinforced steel hull construction surrounding a floating base that can be adjusted to the needs of peace-related operational requirements. The SF 3500 will be configured to hold a heavy-lift helicopter or two medium-size helos and have rear and side roll-on/roll-off capabilities.

Transatlantic Trimaran Trip. UK, US Navies Evaluating Futuristic Warship Design

The UK and US Navies are examining a trimaran design for naval combatant vessels. An example, the Triton built by Vosper Thornycroft, is now undergoing joint evaluations.

Mystery Machine

Article Abstract:

Researchers are exploring the Civil War-era submarine, Housatonic, which sunk after joining in the Union Navy's blockade of Charleston, South Carolina. The submarine is the target of a massive scientific operation that is led by the U.S. Navy's Underwater Archeology Branch.
