IMDEX Asia debut for Singapore's Endurance

Article Abstract:

The Republic of Singapore Navy's first system trainder and exercise module (STEM) 1400 landing ship tank (LST), the RSS Endurance, is undergoing an intensive checkup before it enters operational service in 2000. Endurance, built by Singapore Technologies Marine, is the first of four 140m LSTs intended to replace five ex-US Navy 'County'-class vessels by 2002. The STEM 1400 LST design features a large flight deck that can accommodate a pair of 10-tonne helicopters.

UK carrier project leader to leave

Article Abstract:

The UK Ministry of Defense confirmed that the leader of the UK's Future Carrier (CVF) Integrated Project Team, Ali Baghaei left his post to head ADIs naval business group in Australia. His departure coincided with continuing controversy over the pending appointment of a physical integrator (PI) to manage ship-building strategy, but a MoD spokesman who mentioned that it was Ali's decision to move on to fresher challenges denied this.
