USAF-NAVY summit takes on AEA conundrum

Article Abstract:

Warfighter Talks was carried out to address a shortfall in the joint airborne electronic attack (AEA) capabilities, representing the Navy's plans to retire all of its EA-6B Prowler aircrafts by the end of 2012. Through a Joint Memorandum of Agreement, the Air Force promised the Navy that it will provide a manned stand-off jamming aircraft to fill in the shortfall before 2012. The cost of Air Force's B-52 SOJ program was too expensive so it was cancelled and replaced with the B52 Core Component Jammer (CCJ) program that cut the costs into half but remained unfunded.
