Ultra-violet laser teams with chemical spray to detect IED threats from a standoff distance

Article Abstract:

German-based Security Services & Consulting (SSC) has launched a force protection system that can detect, from a standoff distance, whether a critical area or surface has been tampered with by potential terrorists or hostile insurgents. The concept is based on preparing areas that are critical, by spraying them with a very small concentration of an environmental friendly, invisible chemical substance that light up brightly when illuminated by a ultra-violet (UV) laser source.
