GE's gas turbines power naval forces
Article Abstract:
GE Marine Engines' aerospace derivative LM 2500 marine gas turbine engine has been chosen for a number of international naval programs. Its first application in CODAG configuration for naval service will be on three German Navy Sachsen class F124 frigates. GE will also supply eight LM2500s for the four F-100 class frigates being built for the Spanish Navy and four LM2500s for the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force's two 10DD Murasame class destroyers. Around 1,000 LM2599 engines are currently being by used 25 international navies on more than 380 ships.
