Article Abstract:
A study showing how sound technology creates a split between sound and body that begins in the era when movies were silent and continues into the digital age is presented. Rather than viewing digital imaging or animation or voice acting as oddities, it is found that they bring to the fore aspects of film acting, that need to be more fully taken into account, namely the use of sound and the relation of sound technology to what is called as acting.
