Transcending time: Jean Harlow and Hollywood's narrative of decline
Article Abstract:
The emergence and existence of Hollywood's cult of youth is presented for both theoretical and historical purpose. A case study of screen star Jean Harlow's afterlife is conducted to demonstrate Hollywood's reverence for its youthful dead is an expression of this cult of youth and of the narrative of decline that is used to support and justify it.
